Trunk Decay Analysis

Tools to Assess Hollow Trees

Tree Environs uses a range of diagnostic tools to determine the internal condition of wood, such as the Resistograph, Picus Tomograph or Drill Probes. These tools provide valuable information on the extent of decay and hollows in trunks, limbs and roots.

These instruments provide additional information useful to our qualified consultants when combined with a visual tree assessment (VTA) where a determination of the level of risk posed by trees is required.

Due to the potential for additional wounding and disease transfer, invasive drill testing is only used by Tree Environs Arborists to confirm our assessments where the degree of risk or importance of the tree warrants such intervention.
