Tree Environs was engaged by the Department of Transport, Energy and Infrastructure to relocate a Canary Island Date Palm (Phoenix canariensis) to facilitate the North Terrace Tramline Extension. The palm was transplanted in May 2009 from the western end of North Terrace to Brougham Gardens in North Adelaide. The transplanting process requires care to minimise excessive root damage. The root zone is treated with a range of soil amendments once planted. The tree is monitored for a period of time to check on health and additional management requirements. 4 years on, the palm is doing very well.
